Why vehicle details matter before ordering parts

Understand our VIN-first planning policy, OEM-first parts approach, and the fitment details needed before a future automotive quote.

PRE-LAUNCH · INFORMATION ONLY · SERVICES CLOSED

Two cars with the same year and model can need different parts. Engine, drivetrain, factory audio package, production date and option codes can all affect a repair or installation. Our planned process checks those details before a vehicle-specific estimate or parts order.

Start with the vehicle identity.

After launch, our quoting policy requires a validated full 17-character VIN for supported vehicles. NHTSA provides a public VIN decoder that can help identify information reported by the manufacturer. A decoder result is a starting point; it is not a parts-fitment guarantee.

Our 1949 Mercury imagery represents our brand heritage. It does not promise service or a VIN-policy exception for older vehicles with nonstandard identification numbers. Those vehicles need a separate eligibility review before any future service commitment.

Check the configuration, too.

  • Confirm the engine, transmission and drivetrain.
  • Identify relevant factory options, including premium amplifiers, cameras or driver-assistance equipment.
  • Compare production dates, original part numbers and applicable revisions in reliable parts data.
  • Document existing modifications that could affect compatibility.

OEM first, with informed alternatives.

Our intended policy prioritizes OEM parts when available and suitable. If an OEM part is unavailable or unsuitable, a vetted aftermarket option may be proposed. The customer must approve a substitution before purchase. Brand names or a generic online fitment label do not replace application checks.

Keep vehicle information private.

Do not post your VIN, registration documents or personal details in public comments. We are not collecting vehicle information or issuing quotes during pre-launch.
